Weather Conditions — Avoid strong winds, heavy rain, or poor visibility. Calm days are best.
Water Conditions — Choose sheltered lochs or slow‑moving rivers.
Personal Readiness — You should feel comfortable in water and able to paddle for your chosen duration.

Buoyancy aid (must be worn at all times)

Safe Paddling Guidelines
Follow these simple rules to stay safe on the water:
Stay close to shore unless conditions are calm
Keep your phone accessible in case you need help
Paddle with a partner when possible
Avoid areas with fast boat or jet‑ski traffic
Respect wildlife and keep a safe distance
Never stand up in the kayak while offshore
Do not consume alcohol or drugs before or during paddling

If you fall in:
Stay calm — your buoyancy aid will keep you afloat
Hold onto your kayak if possible
Signal using your whistle or phone
Move toward shore or shallow water
If someone else is in trouble :
Call emergency services immediately
Do not enter dangerous water yourself

Help us keep everything in top condition:
Avoid dragging kayaks over rough ground
Keep sharp objects away from the hull
Rinse mud or sand off before returning
Store paddles and buoyancy aids out of direct sun when not in use
